Pooja, an associate with PSA, was enrolled as an Advocate in the year 2004. Pooja spent several years in the Middle East and has gained domestic as well as international exposure.

In India, Pooja has varied experience in corporate and commercial matters. Her principal focus is in mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.. Her practice includes due diligence of public and private sector companies covering a host of issues ranging from finance, corporate, HR, labour, litigation, IPR etc. She advises clients on effective structuring of their investments.

Pooja has been actively involved in advising clients on the procedures of foreign investment in India in the Information Technology, manufacturing, freight forwarding sectors and the approvals required from various Indian authorities. She is well versed with the procedures and has frequently assisted in the incorporation of companies, branch offices, liaison offices and the continuing corporate compliance matters. Her experience also includes liaison with Indian regulatory authorities such as the Reserve Bank of India (federal bank), Registrar of Companies and Foreign Investment Promotion Board etc.

She has experience in an international arbitration matter between a multinational and an Indian public sector company wherein she was involved in drafting pleadings, applications, affidavits etc., research and providing ongoing support. Overall, Pooja possesses varied experience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and other legal documents.

While living in the Middle East, Pooja worked with a Dubai based law firm specializing in general commercial aviation and finance law and was principally involved in the purchase, sale, lease and financing of commercial/corporate aircraft. She has closely worked with aircraft manufacturers, airlines, charter operators, operating lessors and commercial banks in her wide experience and represented significant clients. She was recently involved in the sale and lease-back of several Emirates A330s and B777s and the subsequent registration of the aircraft as part of the successful closing. She advised clients on day-to-day matters while regularly involved in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts. Pooja had also worked closely with the U.A.E. civil aviation authority in the preparation of a policy for designation of carriers in bi-lateral agreements between countries. Pooja is also well versed with contemporary issues in air transport, air law and regulation.

Pooja has authored an article on “Data Protection in the Indian Perspective” and has also co-authored an article published in India Business Law Journal on “Strengthening of Minority Shareholders.” She regularly contributes various articles relating to legal issues in India for the newsletters of the firm.

Due to her close involvement in facilitating the Women Business Lawyers Conference organized by PSA in New Delhi in 2009, Pooja is actively involved in the establishment of the first society of women lawyers in India to not only address issues affecting women in this field but also to advise on policy issues.
